If Homer Simpson was Laid off He would be able to find work in GA
So according to today’s New York Times the Federal Government is backing the construction of two Nuclear Plants in the great state of Georgia. If the funding passes these will be the first nuclear plants built in the United States since the 1970s. Now I know what many are thinking here, nuclear power is unsafe and could lead to too many problems. Nobody can forget the 1979 tragedy of 3 Mile Island, and if you don’t know much about the tragedy you still know that a nuclear
plant had a melt down in the 1970s. Here’s the thing, do the benefits outweigh the risks? Are the risks as great as the American people think? Nuclear power is clean, it doesn’t create any greenhouse emissions, and with new technology there are new ways to dispose of the used nuclear material and there are new ways to prevent the tragity of 3 Mile Island. Also there are other Nuclear facilities in this country that have been running just fine since the 1950s. And lastly the cost/benefit ratio, nuclear energy is cheep to produce the cost to produce nuclear energy could reduce this country’s need for foreign fuel. I do think that nuclear energy is not only good for Homer Simpson but good for americans to consider.
