I Enjoy the Internet so Much
I was on a friend’s Facebook page and saw this photo which states there are seven states that atheist can’t run for public office. Now having a degree in History and Political Science, I know this is a bunch of ka ka. Article four paragraph three of the constitution clearly states,
“The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the Members of the several State Legislatures, and all executive and judicial Officers, both of the United States and of the several States, shall be bound by Oath or Affirmation, to support this Constitution; but no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States.”
So the idea that these state laws can actually ever be enforced isn’t true, and some of these seven states don’t even have such laws on their books. I just find the internet funny and how things like this spread around so fast.
