Watching the Trump Inauguration from Home

I live near DC and had every intention of going to the inauguration, but my work schedule did not allow for it.  So I watched from home.

Amazon fire showed a live stream of the inauguration.  The acoustics were terrible when trying to hear the announcers or the singers, but not for the people on the main stage.

I will admit that I am not a Trump supporter.  He is the president, and I think the media is wrong when not addressing him as President Trump.  I’ve been seeing this all over Facebook and I understand the sentiment. Then again remember how president Obama was treated by the Republican Congress and conservative media.

I don’t want our country to fail, but I don’t want what Donald Trump stands for to succeed.  I don’t want racism to win.  I don’t want misogyny to win.  I don’t want fear to win.  Many of his supporters believe that he stands for this.  Seeing with my own eyes white high school kids telling black and brown high school kids to “go back to where you came from.”    This is not what makes America great.

Maybe Trump was all talk during the election.  Maybe he will bring jobs back to the states, and also not allow Rowe v Wade to be overturned.  Here is the truth with Rowe v Wade we all have to remember, it’s not about the abortion, it’s about the government having the right to tell you what you can and cannot do with your body.  The implicit right to privacy Rowe v Wade has given us is what we will loose if Rowe v Wade is overturned.

If the first few days of his presidency is any indication, he wants to look powerful and popular.  He wants to breed a distrust of the media.  And he wants to present his own facts, even though in an internet era we can find them ourselves pretty easily if they aren’t classified.

This morning my computer let me know that Trump has pulled the United States out of the Trans-Pacific Partnership, and over the weekend it was broadcast that he wants to meet with the leaders of Mexico and Canda to renegotiate the North American Free Trade Agreement.  Remember Congress must approve all treaties.  Let’s watch as President Trump gets to work because as the musical Hamilton say, History has its Eyes on You.
