I know that this is another one of my many rants but think about it. Do the ends always justify the mean. Now what has gotten me to think about this topic is the recent political climate. First of all we have all heard of those senators taking the pork for their states to pass the health care debate. Secondly what about all those extra screening for flights, will they really catch everything. I don’t know I’ve just been thinking about this and when is it that as a country we become vulnerable, when we aren’t vigilant, but how long can we be vigilant. How long can a country basically stand at attention and say we are going to defeat you. I just don’t know how long we as a society and we as a people can take all of this watching. There was a shooting at my university in 2008 and I know that still to this day every time I hear an airplane, and every time I hear about a shooting my mind goes back to that day and those dead students. I guess the question is do the ends justify the means? I think the real question is how long are we going to wait for the ends to keep up with the means?

So today Yemen officials have stated that 2 Al Qaeda militants have been killed that have been linked to threats against the American embassy in Yemen. This report comes just a couple of weeks after threats against the embassy were made. Yemen has been getting a lot of bad press in the american news within the last couple of weeks due to its seemingly lase fare approach to looking at the issues of terrorism in the middle east. That is until the US put this issue right in front of their face, and then this treat was made. I know what fantastic timing.
Now I know that these events may or may not be related, every terrorist in the news is apart of Al Qaeda, but it seems as though a bunch of terrorists seem to always be caught around the same time. I mean terrorists are caught when the leader’s poll numbers are down, or around an election, or around holidays when everyone is watching TV. I know this is just a conspiracy theory but, I don’t know. I want to know where Bin Laden is. That’s what I want to know. I want to know where the next real terror cell is going to develope. That’s what I want to know.

Why in the world do people still try to commit acts of terrorism on airplanes, and how is it that people can still get so close. As we all know, unless you’ve been under the rock call Christmas, a terrorist was almost able to light an incendiary device on an airplane going to Detroit. Now with this knowledge the FAA has imposed new travel restrictions, the biggest 2 being that a person cannot have anything in their lap the last ninety minutes of travel and a person can’t get out of their seats the last 30 minutes of their flight. Meaning for a flight of 90 minutes or less you wouldn’t be able to get out of your seat. Look for the availability of first class tickets to decrease, since everyone should defiantly want those big comfy seats. Now adding taking your shoes off cause of the shoe bomber what’s next? What’s the new way that terrorist are going to wreck air travel. Can’t wait to see photos of the President and his family coming home from Hawaii on Air Force One, no need to take off your shoes there.
