The Facebook lawsuit is about a mom in California suing Facebook because her kid racked up charges on Facebook without her permission. In California, there are laws that prevent minors from buying things online without their parent’s permission.
On Facebook, you cannot purchase anything if you are under 18 without your parent’s permission. The mother, Glynnis Bohannon, says that this isn’t enough. She is filing a 5 million dollar lawsuit. I am assuming she is looking to turn it into a class-action lawsuit.
It definitely falls under the side of parental responsibility. You need a credit card to buy Facebook credit. If the parent gives this credit card information freely to their child, whose fault is it if the child uses it? It is the parent’s responsibility to delete their credit card information from their child’s Facebook profile so it isn’t used again.
The judge should throw out this Facebook lawsuit. I feel as though this mom is looking to blame Facebook. Instead she should at herself and her child to blame for the credit card bill.
