President Trump Signed First Coronavirus Relief Bill
President Trump signed the first coronavirus relief bill Wednesday night. This $100 billion dollar bill includes provisions for paid leave and free coronavirus testing. The bill passed the Senate 90-8 (the 8 against the bill were Republicans and 2 Republicans did not vote because they are in self-isolation due to the coronavirus). This bill does not include direct payments to citizens.
The Trump administration is hoping to pass a more sprawling economic stimulus package later on. This includes the $1000 stimulus checks the president has discussed.
This first bill expands relief for those who work for businesses with less than 500 people. So check out your state’s unemployment laws if you are out of work. Keep an eye out for more stimulus packages in the next few weeks.
