The Party of ‘No’ vs Everyone Else
Why do the Democrats seem to be in so much turmoil?
The recent traditional roles of the Democratic and Republican parties have changed. Not long ago the Republican Party was the conservative party. The Republican Party is now the reactionary authoritarian party. Today’s authoritarian Republicans advance no agenda for making anything better. They complain about spending but offer no budget plan. They complain about the exit chaos in Afghanistan but have no plan for Afghan refugees. They complain about illegal border crossings but offer no immigration or foreign aid plan. Most notably they have had no mitigation plan for dealing with COVID-19.
Reactionary Republicans have an easy task: just say ‘no’ to every proposal while engaging in nonsense culture wars. The traditionally progressive Democrats seem to be in turmoil because they now have to do it all.
Democrats now cover the entire functional political spectrum from liberal to conservative. Who now represents the traditional conservative interest in keeping government spending in check? That would be conservative Democratic Senator Joe Manchin. Who now represents the traditional conservative interest in representing the wealthy class? That would be conservative Democratic Senator Kyrsten Sinema.
The Democratic Party slogan could be President Biden’s quote,
“Don’t compare me to the Almighty. Compare me to the alternative.”
Joe Biden
“I don’t care, do you?”
Milania Trump
The perfect slogan for today’s ‘do nothing’ Republican Party.
