Get Back Up And Fight

“Fight on my men,”…
“I am hurt,but I am not slain;
I’ll lay me down and bleed a-while,
And then I’ll rise and fight again”.

– Scottish ballad

If this is your first rodeo, you may be appalled at the outcome of, and response to, the 2024 election. Expect this: Democrats will be in circular firing squad formation for the next few weeks or even months:
‘She should have said this’, ‘she shouldn’t have said that’, ‘she should have picked someone other than Walz’, ‘she should have campaigned here, not there’, ‘Biden should have done this not that’, ‘There should have been a primary’, ‘she should have embraced progressive principles’, ‘she should have moved to the middle’ and on and on ad nauseam.

This happens after every major Democratic loss. Try to tune out the destructive post election chatter on cable television and social media.

At some point serious activists will create an action plan for the path forward. Start by reviewing the 2026 midterm elections map.

Taking back the House and/or the Senate will give a democracy coalition a serious check on authoritarian power.

Until then, hold the administration to it’s promises. Demand lower grocery prices. Demand that the deficit be lowered. Demand two dollar a gallon gasoline. Demand an end to fentanyl crisis.

And remember the words of Edward Kennedy after losing the 1980 Democratic presidential nomination. Kennedy said,

“For me, a few hours ago, this campaign came to an end. For all those whose cares have been our concern, the work goes on, the cause endures, the hope still lives, and the dream shall never die.”

The struggle is not over.
Spoiler alert- it’s never over.
Get back up and fight.

Thanks and a tip of the hat to DonkeyHotey for the image.
