The House Committees have written Two Articles of Impeachment. About an hour ago House Judiciary Committee Chair Jerrod Nadler read off the two charges: abuse of power, and obstruction of Congress.
During this conference, Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff defended releasing these Articles of Impeachment now because the courts are too slow, and then the president would keep using the courts to his advantage.
Both articles will be voted on Thursday by the House Judiciary Committee and then will be voted on by the House of Representatives next week.
If these articles pass then President Trump will be the third president in this country’s history to be impeached. The case will then be taken to the Senate where there will be a trial. The 100 Senators will be the jury and the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court will be the judge. For the president to be removed from office 60 Senators need to vote to convict the president of these charges.
